PROJECT LIFE: Week 21

This was the week that 'summer' started for us...the weather got REALLY nice, it was the long weekend in May, the kids used the kiddie pool for the first time, the flowers started coming out...I had my first photoshoot of the year (well, besides a winter session), and we had some visitors (if course no pictures of that, I am the WORST at photographing 'events' like visits, trips, etc.)

I like how some layouts end up being a certain colour or theme...this spread has a lot of yellow in it, which works out well with the start of summer theme. 2 Instagram collages this week, our Weekly Review spread out on 2 small cards, a journaling spot with Dan's handwriting on it (!), and lots of journaling spots/labels, as usual. My think my favourite part of this week might be the 2 photos of the kids in the pool on the 2nd page, I put the "&" Thicker between them on top of the page protector and added "lamb" and "lioness"with little letter stickers. Pretty much sums up their personalities ;)

Seems so long ago already, so happy to have these memories written down!

PROJECT LIFE: Week 20

Alright, confession time: I've fallen off the Project Life wagon. As I predicted at the beginning of the year, as soon as things started to get busy for me at work, I completely got out of the habit of taking photos at home. I haven't done any spreads for July yet so I'm about 3 weeks behind, and for one of those weeks I don't have any photos except Instagrams...oops! Trying not to freak out about it, going to attempt to catch up this week, but the layouts may be quick bare from here on out (which is totally ok, it's the big picture that matters in the end...) We'll see how it goes, wish me luck!

Anyway, I'll keep sharing what I do have, since I'm so behind in that too! This is Week 20, way back in May, holy! Springtime, things were just starting to warm up and grow in our yard, we were very excited about it :) Nothing really special on this layout, one funny thing though: the card I wrote TO Oshi, in 2nd person...I have no idea why I did that, as if she would one day come back and read it like the kids, lol. I also included some quotes from my Twitter feed as a filler; gotta love social media for randomness like that!

Here we go!

Week 21 comin' right up!

PROJECT LIFE: Week 19

I'm back with another Project Life post! What, did you think that I quit? Not the case at all, of which I am just as shocked about as you probably are (maybe even more). I just got really behind in photographing the spreads, but I'm all caught up now (we're on Week 25 or something), so I'll be sharing lots soon!

This week actually has 2 inserts, an 8X11 (approx), 8-vertical photo insert from a trip to the park (no real reason for wanting to document it other than I took a lot of nice photos that I wanted to include), and a regular 8.5X11 page protector to hold Victor's first piece of art (something I've been looking forward to including for awhile...it's actually a gift they made at the daycare for mother's day, the poem kind of made me tear up!) I got the photo inserts from Wal-Mart one day and while I like the idea of including vertical photos in a different size, the pockets were really 'loose', so I had to staple the photos into the pockets and 'seal' the seams with gaffers tape. That's what happens when you get cheap-o stuff I guess, but in this case it works.

Other than that a pretty regular week; the "W" in the title card is a wooden letter that I stuck woodgrain contact paper on to, the file folder on the first page opens up to contain a list of Victor's current words (to be honest the list isn't in there yet, better get on that before I forget!), the 2nd page has 2 different collages, an Instagram collage (as usual), and a 4-photo collage from our trip to Fredericton. I made a little 'cousins' card on the 2nd page to talk about the trip and the boys, and I did our Weekly review on the computer, which allows for much more writing (it's pretty tiny though, next time I'll make the font bigger, my old eyes can hardly read it already! haha)

Still enjoying this project and especially seeing the results :)

I would like to say that I'm going to do a non PL post someday, but the truth is that blogging doesn't really fit into my life anymore...if you want to see more photos of my kids (that aren't included here), they are on my Facebook page, it's just easier to update there.

Back soon!

PROJECT LIFE: Week 18

Week 18, wow!

I really like this spread for a couple of reasons; I enjoy all the design elements that went into it, and I also enjoy the fact that this week is special for one reason: it's the first spread all year where the photos are all from one day (with the exception of my iPhone pics). I have no idea what happened, but when I went to pick out the photos from the week, I noticed that there was only one day! But you know what, there was still enough variety in the photos that you would never know it was all on the same day (you can only tell because we're wearing the same clothes in each shot, haha).  And despite not having a ton of photos to use, the spread filled out quickly (in fact, I'm trying to include less photos, both for economical reasons and to force me to include more journaling).

Things I like specifically:
-The '15lbs' graphic card I made to document Violet's weight right now (I used a generic photo of grass that Victor took as the background)
-The 'counting card' that talks about Victor learning to count to 10 (I used the number stickers that come with the kit, which is great because I haven't found much use for them so far)
-The new Smashbook wash tape that I bought (used on the Instagram collage)
-The Thank you card that we got from Steve's mother (we went to her husband's funeral a couple of weeks ago)
-The gardening photo of Violet and I (taken with the self timer, I need to do that more!)
-The little letter stickers on my self portrait (a simple and profound statement for me)
-The door card 'filler'...like I said, I didn't have a lot of photos this week so I used the door patterned paper, I think it fits in nicely.
-The repeating diamond stickers that I found in Victor's baby book earlier in the week and decided to use (like I said, great place to use up your random bits of stash!)
-The Pro/Con journaling card that I used to talk about a parenting quarrel I had with Victor

Oh, Project Life, how I geek out over you :)

Have a great weekend!
