Currently

So I haven't blogged in FOREVER, but I saw that Elise Blaha and Ali Edwards were doing "Currently" type posts on their blogs today and decided to join in. Miracles can happen!

So here we go:

Currently...

eating the last cupcake from my sister's baby shower.

listening to How Stuff Works podcasts; I love them and have them on while I work. I've gone through all the "Stuff Mom Never Told You" and "Pop Stuff" episodes, currently enjoying the "Stuff You Should Know" episodes (and getting used to listening to guys talk).

watching a lot of Community and Sex and the City reruns.

glancing down at my arms and double taking at my new tattoos; still not used to seeing them there.

editing all.the.time. 75% of my working time is spent editing these days.

breathing the cool crisp air, and trying to breathe it deep.

loving that Fall is really here, but still kind of surprised how quickly it snuck up on me again

trying to be patient with getting Dan and I's photos back from Shannon May Photography (teaser shot above).

starting to think about the kids' Halloween costumes and Halloween in general.

getting excited about my trip to Quebec to shoot a wedding next week.

dreading trying to decide what to pack and getting on an airplane.

reminding myself that I need to care for my body better because I feel like crap if I neglect it too much.

falling asleep at 9:00pm on the couch every night; I'm not used to it getting dark so early.

amazing at the fact that Violet is one. How can that be?

enjoying Victor's growing vocabulary. He's been a little parrot lately.

knowing that I need to think about potty training soon but not wanting to start.

looking forward to the 'slow' season of January-May.

feeling a bit overwhelmed with the amount of work I have to do.

thanking God that I am able to work from home at what I love.

cooking Pepper Steak for supper tonight (welcome back the urge to cook comfort food!)

admitting that I am not Martha Stewart and will never be a perfectionist with food/crafts.

freaking out over how behind in Project Life I am.

thinking that I need to call about getting oil and more wood; winter will be here in no time.

wearing sweaters and sandals, or T-shirts and boots (my favourite kind of outfits).

putting the kids' summer clothes away and pulling out the bigger sizes for Violet.

wishing we had a bit more money, we've been cutting it really close lately.

relishing (or attempting to anyway) in this very full and busy life we are living right now.

Victor: 2 years, 7 months

Violet: 1 year!!

Have a great day friends,

PROJECT LIFE: Week 22

To say I'm behind in posting these is an understatement...I think I'll be posting well into 2013 to catch up with them all! This is actually the last week I photographed, so hopefully this week sometime I will get around to photographing the last 10 weeks or so (wow, summer just flew by!)

This particular week in June I decided to try something new, I journaled a card for every day of the week, so there are no small photos (except for the weather card). I like the look and how it's very text heavy, a nice contrast to sparser weeks. I also included our certificate for Musical Moments since it was the last week before summer break, an Instagram collage and a little photo on the Title Card since I didn't have any small spaces available. Pretty nice week :)

Here we go!

I think I'll try to blog my ode to Fall this week, and Violet is turning one so I need to start writing a one-year update post, which is going to end up being quite long since I haven't done any monthly updates for the little miss!

PROJECT LIFE: Week 21

This was the week that 'summer' started for us...the weather got REALLY nice, it was the long weekend in May, the kids used the kiddie pool for the first time, the flowers started coming out...I had my first photoshoot of the year (well, besides a winter session), and we had some visitors (if course no pictures of that, I am the WORST at photographing 'events' like visits, trips, etc.)

I like how some layouts end up being a certain colour or theme...this spread has a lot of yellow in it, which works out well with the start of summer theme. 2 Instagram collages this week, our Weekly Review spread out on 2 small cards, a journaling spot with Dan's handwriting on it (!), and lots of journaling spots/labels, as usual. My think my favourite part of this week might be the 2 photos of the kids in the pool on the 2nd page, I put the "&" Thicker between them on top of the page protector and added "lamb" and "lioness"with little letter stickers. Pretty much sums up their personalities ;)

Seems so long ago already, so happy to have these memories written down!

PROJECT LIFE: Week 20

Alright, confession time: I've fallen off the Project Life wagon. As I predicted at the beginning of the year, as soon as things started to get busy for me at work, I completely got out of the habit of taking photos at home. I haven't done any spreads for July yet so I'm about 3 weeks behind, and for one of those weeks I don't have any photos except Instagrams...oops! Trying not to freak out about it, going to attempt to catch up this week, but the layouts may be quick bare from here on out (which is totally ok, it's the big picture that matters in the end...) We'll see how it goes, wish me luck!

Anyway, I'll keep sharing what I do have, since I'm so behind in that too! This is Week 20, way back in May, holy! Springtime, things were just starting to warm up and grow in our yard, we were very excited about it :) Nothing really special on this layout, one funny thing though: the card I wrote TO Oshi, in 2nd person...I have no idea why I did that, as if she would one day come back and read it like the kids, lol. I also included some quotes from my Twitter feed as a filler; gotta love social media for randomness like that!

Here we go!

Week 21 comin' right up!

PROJECT LIFE: Week 19

I'm back with another Project Life post! What, did you think that I quit? Not the case at all, of which I am just as shocked about as you probably are (maybe even more). I just got really behind in photographing the spreads, but I'm all caught up now (we're on Week 25 or something), so I'll be sharing lots soon!

This week actually has 2 inserts, an 8X11 (approx), 8-vertical photo insert from a trip to the park (no real reason for wanting to document it other than I took a lot of nice photos that I wanted to include), and a regular 8.5X11 page protector to hold Victor's first piece of art (something I've been looking forward to including for awhile...it's actually a gift they made at the daycare for mother's day, the poem kind of made me tear up!) I got the photo inserts from Wal-Mart one day and while I like the idea of including vertical photos in a different size, the pockets were really 'loose', so I had to staple the photos into the pockets and 'seal' the seams with gaffers tape. That's what happens when you get cheap-o stuff I guess, but in this case it works.

Other than that a pretty regular week; the "W" in the title card is a wooden letter that I stuck woodgrain contact paper on to, the file folder on the first page opens up to contain a list of Victor's current words (to be honest the list isn't in there yet, better get on that before I forget!), the 2nd page has 2 different collages, an Instagram collage (as usual), and a 4-photo collage from our trip to Fredericton. I made a little 'cousins' card on the 2nd page to talk about the trip and the boys, and I did our Weekly review on the computer, which allows for much more writing (it's pretty tiny though, next time I'll make the font bigger, my old eyes can hardly read it already! haha)

Still enjoying this project and especially seeing the results :)

I would like to say that I'm going to do a non PL post someday, but the truth is that blogging doesn't really fit into my life anymore...if you want to see more photos of my kids (that aren't included here), they are on my Facebook page, it's just easier to update there.

Back soon!
