PROJECT LIFE: Week 13

I know I say it all the time, but I seriously LOVE this project. I was a bit doubtful at first that I would be able to keep it up, I thought for sure that I would get too busy or bored like I usually do, but I've managed to keep it up, and even when/if I fall a bit behind, I always manage to catch back up. And even though I've been sure a few times that I wouldn't have enough photos, that has never once been the case (in some instances I don't take photos everyday so the photos are only from 2-3 events, but really that's not an issue for me). I pick up my camera WAY more this year than last year, and with 2 small kids, that's a big deal. I'm happy that I've been recording so much of the kids' lives, Violet's especially, because as I've said, this will most likely be her 'baby book'. Milestones are being captured here, and more importantly, all the little everyday stuff is being captured too. Love.

Anyway, this particular week was just a normal one for us. Dan came home sick with the same flu that we all had the week before, but the next night we went on a 'date', and on Saturday we got to know our community a little more by going to a BBQ at the local hall. I got a cool birthday card from my sister in law that I cut down and included, and that's about it for 'stuff', the rest is just the usual words and photos. I like that you can use pretty much whatever in the album and I try to use different things from time to time, for example the purple 'B' is a wooden craft letter that I coloured with a crayola crayon. I made 2 Instagram collages (sometimes I take more photos on my phone than with my camera), a folded journaling card to talk a bit about Victor's tantrums (really loving these 'hidden' journaling cards), and I did a technique where I spread our weekly review over 2 side by side journaling cards (I think it was something Ali did once).

Here we go, Week 13!

Thanks for taking a peek!

PROJECT LIFE: Week 12

This week has taken the prize of my favourite layout to date, I'm so happy with how it turned out. It was my St Patrick's Day/my birthday week, the week that the temperatures reached crazy highs, the week of Violet's 6-month photoshoot and the week where we all caught a nasty noro-type virus (yuck). Lots going on, but I still managed to document it pretty well!

Just like I did for Violet's 3-month photoshoot in Week 2, I added a 6X12 insert that holds 6 photos for her 6-month shots. I wrote a little 'letter' to her about the session and included it in a diptych, and this time I added 2 vertical shots instead of a horizontal one on the back (no reason, just because I liked those shots more). I love all the bright colours in them!

The thing I also love about this week's layout are the 3X4 journaling cards I did. They are really graphic (very trendy at the moment) and stand out-literally-, which I love. I did one card for my birthday (with the the big 29 in Thickers), one to talk about the weather (the big sun on a pop dot), one that states how rough of a week it was from being sick (with the large Instagram), and I also included one that has the tags from Violet's photoshoot outfits stuck on with a brad. They all kind of go together and I'm really happy with how they turned out and will be doing them like that again.

Other than that it's my pretty usually stuff, I'll let the pictures do the talking :)

Some of the supplies used on this spread is SO old (like the gaffer tape above), and I love that I'm using them up!!

I've had a NON Project Life post brewing in my head for awhile now but it's a pretty negative rant so I don't know if I'll bother typing it out (just the woes of stay at home motherhood). If I don't it'll be more Weeks coming right up!

PROJECT LIFE: Week 11

This week my mom, sister and I took a trip up to Bathurst to visit my aunts/cousins and grandmother, so of course I had to include an insert with those photos...It's a Design B page protector (the same one that I used for Victor's birthday part in Week 8), but I cut it down to be smaller than the 12X12 page protectors since I don't like having 12X12 inserts interrupting the 'flow' of the regular weekly spreads (in fact I may go back to Victor's party and try to re-do it somehow to be smaller, we'll see).

Anyway, back to this week... other than the insert (which I 'tabbed' for easy reference), it's pretty regular stuff: lots of photos of the kids, random journaling, a few embellies here and there. I like using a lot of the same 'stuff' in a weekly spread to kind of tie the photos together since they are all so random, like for example this week I used a lot of little multi coloured letter stickers (on the photo of Victor and also the title of the Weekly Review card), or the sun die cut and sun journaling spot (all from the same kit, in fact). This is probably stuff that only I will notice later on down the road, but still, I enjoy the 'design' aspect of it.

STILL so loving this project (it feels so good to actually follow through on a project like this, I don't ever want to quit!)

PROJECT LIFE: Week 10

Another week, another spread. Still really loving this project, and I'm so glad that the enthusiasm hasn't waned yet! This was another normal week for us, nothing overly exciting (no inserts or extras). Victor had his last day at his babysitter's, Dan got his hair cut and we went bowling :)

Definitely sticking to a certain 'style', which is fine by me, I enjoy the consistency of certain things like the Instagram collages (did a bit differently this week with 5 photos instead of 6), the double photo diptychs, the journaling spots and journaling on the photos, and the 'constants' that I include every week. It fills up fast, the hardest part is usually trying to find room for it all! That must mean we have a pretty full life after all :)

(PS-I totally took that tree shot like that on purpose because I knew I could do my Weekly Review in the negative space. Geek much? haha)

I'm about 5 weeks behind on sharing these, I better hurry it up!

(And I'm sorry to those who come here for more than just Project Life, but I'm pretty sure that anyone who used to read this blog has long since abandoned it, so until I catch up on these I won't worry too much about my 'regular ramble' posts...)
